A seasonal restaurant in this Vernon County community was inspired while one of its owners was watching the Food Network television show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
Chris Underwood said his wife, Krista Underwood, was looking for a job when the idea for the Blackhawk Grille struck. The show had highlighted food trucks and he recalled thinking, “That is something that my wife could do.”
The Blackhawk Grille makes “food like grandma used to make” that isn’t coming from a box or a bag. About 90 percent of the restaurant’s ingredients are purchased locally.
Many customers enjoy the Blackhawk Grille’s Famous Fries with their order, which are hand-cut. Other side items include hand-dipped cheese curds.
